Resident Evil 5 Review Residentevil5
Hello everyone, and welcome back to VVCAM Gamer's blog. Today I am reviewing the new, and awesome game, Resident Evil 5.

I just have three words to say. Oh My God. This basically sums up Resident Evil 5. It is a magnificent game that really pulls you into the story and scares you shit scared at the same time. There are some good parts and bad parts to the game, but hey, nothings perfect ya know? The game is exactly like other Resident Evil games except the action part. They cut out more of the scary zombie stuff in this one and added more action factors. Just one more thing to say, many people I know have been saying this game is totally racist and thats one reason they are not buying it. I know its like 1 white man versus like a kajillion black people. This is because Africa is the test subject for the virus, it has nothing to do with nationality so stop hatin' Very Happy

Plot: The game starts with Chris Redfield driving in the African plains. He stops in this old shanty town. To me it looks like a plague is running around the city at first. He meets up with Sheva and she offers to join him. They go through the gate where they have to meet a butcher and they stock up on ammo and weapons. Then you are all alone to find Irving. On the way there are some very interesting zombies like there is this one guy who looks like he is from a middle eastern country so I dont know what Capcom thought there. Then there are the classic ones such as the huge guy with the homemade axe. In chapter 2 you find Josh and the military team who trained Sheva. They retrieved a memory disk with the whereabouts of Irving, but Chris sees something that is impossible: Jill, from the old games, he was her partner. Then he is off to find her and at the same time, Irving, who is testing more and more zombie experiments on Africans.

Gameplay: The game is pretty smooth for the first part, but when you aim, I think its a little two slow to turn around but im used to it seeing that I played Resident Evil 4 for about 32 hours in a row. The shooting of limbs and heads in this game are amazing. Capcom made it very interesting because if you shoot a zombie in the knee he will fall our crouch down. Then you can go up to him and give him a HUUUUGE uppercut right to the face. It really makes you feel like you are Chris. The basic mechanics of the game makes you want to play more and more, shooting zombies heads off and pulverizing them to the ground. To be honest, I think shooting them in the crotch makes the game a whole lot funner.

The scare factor in this game is not like it used to. I tried to play it at 2 in the morning, and still, the shrieks and sudden music changes did not scare me enough. They really slacked on this game to make it scary. But hell, that doesn't make me, not want to play the game.
The enemy AI and partner in this game is considerable. I was doing the 2nd chapter, where you encounter the chainsaw zombie, and Sheva was constantly in my face so I couldn't see where I was shooting. That was really annoying so I just did free roam shooting. Also Sheva can stop you from proceeding in the game at some time. Im like, “Jesus, move away from the doorway you idiot!” She was in the doorway and not moving while I was shooting around her making her move. For the enemy AI, what I noticed are the enemies that shoot blowing up arrows, they shoot really off target, I know its a zombie game but really, they missed my body for like 3 meters. The chainsaw one also is a little bit, insane in the membrane, insane! Got no brain. I was fighting the second one, at the factory and while I was reloading, it was just standing right in front of me not even attempting an attack.
The boss fights are aces. Each boss has a puzzle like goal in order to beat it and they are at some times really easy to figure out but others are hard. My favorite is the huge giant guy when you are in the car, but again, this one was really easy seeing the bright leech things coming out of his arm and back, I knew I had to shoot them to kill him. Now think for one second here, have you ever seen that big zombie guy ever before. Im sure I have, in several places. 1St, Lord of the Rings. That huge troll thing appeared in one LOTR chained to a wall growling and stuff. Even with the same beard thing. Also in many Mid-Evil games/movies, these huge monsters appear, so I don't know what they were thinking, but it would have been more original to make a new big zombie thing...

I just need to put this out there because I laugh at this all the time. The classic white and brown egg. Pick it up and you can either eat it and regain some health (you get more with the brown egg) or you can throw it at your enemies, and sometimes even killing them, its an achievement im eager to get.

Sound: Sound is probably the biggest disappointment in Res5. The spooky theme that always comes on when something bad is going to happen, or a freaky thing will pop up so I didn't like that they warned me before something is going to happen. Also, Sheva, the most annoying est partner you will ever work with. Whenever you call her over using circle if your on the ps3, she always says “Roger!” and its soo annoying because she will say it over and over while pressing circle simultaneously. They also put “OK!” but still, I think they should have put more than 2 responses and at different tones. Try it out, it sucks.

Now online is amazing just for one point. You cannot even trade weapons with a human player online. I mean what tha fack. Be real na mean! Anyway, other from that, its good doesn't get old fast, and exciting gameplay. Especially when you beat the game, the multiplayer option where you have to shoot waves of zombies is really nice.
Other than slow movement in game, long cue online, and the frustrating AI sometimes, and cliché pop ups, Resident Evil 5 is an amazing game and well worth the money you pay. Many many things to do even when you beat the game, so it keeps the game fresh and having no end. I would totally recommend you to buy this game and make sure if the collectors edition is in your store, get that. The bag is 2 thumbs up, waay up! Razz

Graphics – 9.2
Sound – 7.9
Gameplay – 9.5
Online – 8.5
Sheva – 100 Very Happy

Did you beat the game? from what it sounds like you only maybe got to chapter 2 whatabout 3/4/5/6? lol, if you beat the game you would have talked about the final boss and how damn hard it is.. umm.. for a review maybe a 1/5, need to go into more depth maybe try and get secrets in the game, doesnt sound like you did to much besides run through it as fast as you could without stopping to look at anything, theres a mercenary part at the end thats insanely hard, but you can unlock even more stuff beating it, the unlimited ammo you get when you fully upgrade a weapon and unlock it, there is so much to that game and you didnt mention none of the good stuff

I thought it was a pretty good review. The reason he didn't go too far into the other chapters is probably because he doesn't want to ruin anything. I look forward to eventually playing this game!
