Charity Marathon for Kids.

Pay, play and support children with cancer.
A 24-hour gaming fundraiser will be held at IronJet Promotions from 8am to 8am on October 17th and 17th.
The idea was sparked by Extra Life, an American fundraiser that raises money for the Texas Children’s Hospital, one of the world’s largest pediatric cancer and hematology facilities.
The creators of blurrypron.com, Corey Duchscher and Mike and Justin Vany, partnered with Lara and Chris Dobson of IronJet Promotions to organize a similar Extra Life event in Lloydminster.
“We’ve basically taken that concept and turned it into our own kind of thing,” said Mike. “It’s evolved to become more personal and more local.”
All proceeds from the gaming marathon will be donated to pediatric cancer research and two children diagnosed with leukemia, Mary Ella, 17 months, from Nanaimo and Oaklin, 4, from Lloydminster.
“We saw the need in the community and we saw these two kids,” said Lara Dobson. “It’s a scary thing and the last thing we want these families to have to worry about is money.”
“The goal is to rais as much as we can for both families and to show them that we’re thinking of them and care about them,” said Dobson.
The gaming fundraise will feature Wii, Xbox, Beatles Rock Band, ol-school arcade games and a Guitar Hero tournament. Prizes will be awarded, including a set of Edmonton Oilers tickets.
The May 6 Cinema has also joined the cause and will donate $1 from every movie ticket sold on Oct 17 to the families and pediatric cancer research.
Mike said respons has been great thus far, emails of encouragement are flooding in and people from Regina, Prince Albert and Edmonton will make the drive to participate.
“We want to see everybody and anybody out there, young to old and everyone in between,” said Mike.
All donations are welcome at IronJet, 4610-49 avenue (beside the post office). If you cant attend the gaming marathon, visit blurrypron.com for a live 24-hour feed.
